The News is Missing a Perspective. Ours.
For too long, news about disabled people has been written for us, or about us, but rarely by us. The context is missed, the nuance is lost, and the real impact of policy, culture, and daily life goes unheard. The conversation has been incomplete.
The D-Brief is the missing part of the conversation.
We are a UK-based publication providing the essential debrief on news, politics, and culture—all through the lens of lived disability experience. We don't just report the news; we react to it, analyse it, and share what it feels like to live it.
Our Mission & Principles
- We are Opinion-Led: Our content is built on sharp commentary and authentic perspective.
- We are Community-Driven: We operate under the principle of "Nothing About Us Without Us." This is a platform for disabled writers to be heard.
- We are Advocacy-Focused: Through powerful stories and clear analysis, we aim to inform, challenge, and create change.
Meet the Editor
The D-Brief was founded and is edited by Luke Scudder, an advocate based in Gloucestershire. He believes that commentary is a form of action and that for too long, others have spoken for our community. The D-Brief was created to shift that power, providing a platform where disabled people set the agenda and lead the conversation.
