Write for us

Have a perspective to share? We want to hear it.

The D-Brief is built on the voices of the UK's disability community. We are actively looking for disabled writers with sharp opinions, personal stories, and critical analysis of the world around us.

What We're Looking For

We publish opinion-led commentary, analysis, and first-person lived experience pieces (600-900 words). We're interested in your take on:

Your voice is your expertise. Whether you're a seasoned journalist or a first-time writer, if you have a compelling pitch, we want to see it.

What We Pay

Valuing the work and lived experience of our contributors is a core principle of The D-Brief.

As a brand-new, self-funded publication, we are not yet in a position to pay for contributions. Our primary operational goal is to secure funding so we can introduce a competitive flat rate for all our writers.

We are currently seeking foundational contributors who are passionate about our mission and want to help build this platform from the ground up.

How to Pitch

Please do not send full drafts. To pitch an idea, email us at [email protected] with the subject line: "PITCH: [Your Proposed Headline]".

In your email, please include:

  1. A 2-3 sentence summary of your article and your core argument.
  2. A brief sentence about who you are and why you're the right person to write it.

We aim to respond to all pitches within two weeks. For more detail on our house style, please see our full editorial guidelines.
